Colorado Youth for Unity and Equality is currently planning another rally for May 24, 2008 to be held on the West Steps of the State Capitol at 3pm.  The purpose of the rally is to continue to unite the GLBT youth community to remain active in pursuing equal rights for all.  The essential focus of the May 24th rally is hate crimes awareness and to promote tolerance and acceptance within our society.

Young adults are vital to the movement for GLBT equality and we hope to help them change the world to a more accepting place. Our goal is to remain visible but also to encourage the youth to go to the polls in November 2008 and VOTE!

At the May 2008 rally, we will have several youth speakers Denver slam poet champions including Andrea Gibson, Suzy "Cream Cheese", Amy Everhart, Paulie Lipman, Ken Arkind.

Non-Violence Pledge

THIS IS MY PERSONAL PLEDGE FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE UNITY AND EQUALITY RALLY AT THE COLORADO STATE CAPITOL ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2006.

My goal is not to intimidate the people of Colorado—but I refuse to remain silent any longer.

My goal today is to take a visible stand against discrimination and to non-violently educate the people of Colorado.

My goal today is to reaffirm that:

  • Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people possess the same inalienable rights as all other Americans.
  • That the loving, committed relationships and families formed by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans are not “a threat to children, family, or the nation”.
  • I am determined to never give up in the non-violent struggle for full equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people until the state of Colorado lives up to America’s promise of liberty and justice for ALL Americans and their families.

My goal is to help the people of Colorado realize the tragic consequences of the recent election results and to encourage our elected leaders to consider how they might rectify this travesty through meaningful legislative action.

I promise to do or say nothing today that might cloud this message with anger, hatred or fear.
